Rebuilt control arms
Looks like my 87 NA needs a right hand ball joint. Was considering the Rennbay kit, but since my car is my daily and my mechanic is hesitant about doing the rebuild himself, I'd rather find some already re-built.
Any recommendations on suppliers?
TIA,
Martin

I wouldn't trust the ones from Vertex, the last time I saw a rebuilt one from them it had one of the press-in "Febi" joints.
I *think* that www.944online.com has rebuilt units instock, that are rebuilt properly instead of with the press-in kit.
If you mechanic is at all mechanically inclined, however, rebuilding them with the Rennbay kit is a snap. Really!

If you send in your arms and pay for return shipping and a kit I will rebuild them for free. The rebuild is so simple though it wouldn't be worth the extra shipping cost to most people.

Travis, It's a great offer.....just wondering how to make use of it. Car is a daily and only car. Let me try and work something out.
Is there anyway of making the car roll-able, with the control arms removed, so that it doesn't sit on my mechanics lift for too long? Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks again Travis, I'll see what I can do.

Martin,
The car won't roll without the arms on. You would have to put it on jack stands.
I know for a fact that there is quite a few people in the PA area that have done at least one ball joint install. I am willing to bet that if you were to offer up some hamburgers/hotdogs and a few cold beers in exchange for some wrenching help you would have a slew of rennlisters over there in a heart beat. The job is really only about an hour per side including taking the arms off and putting them back on.
If something like that doesn't work out then give me a call and I will do them for you.

Too bad Travis didn't have the kits back when I had a ball joint going bad...
It was either pay 2/3 the cost of new ones to send them off and get them rebuilt, or buy new ones, or upgrade to billet racing ones.
I ended up buying 2 brand new control arms for $350 each...Rennbay's kit would have been a lot more cost-efficient, although the new arms look stronger than the old ones. I haven't been able to figure out if they actually updated the parts though...but they are different than the old arms.
