martin - i understand the daily driver predicament you're in. consider renting a car for a day or using family's or friend's cars.

give yourself more than an hour per side. if it's your first time, it will take more than that. i am fairly mechanically inclined and it took probably 4-5 hours per side (that includes removing the old ball joint, cleaning, checking for cracks, and refitting the new joint)

Mechanics don't like rebuilds they aren't familiar with, especially if they have to do the rebuild themselves That's because they are responsible if they don't last.
