IceShark is our resident lighting/electrical expert -- do a search and you'll find alot of info! He will periodically put together cable/lighting kit to improve the lights and make them available for our benefit. There's some more info at Guru Racing.

I can say from experience going from regular sealed beam lenses to the Sylvania Silverstars is not much of a difference. They are marginally better. I think your money would be better put into the E-Code lenses and 55w bulbs that IceShark has for sale. If you want the ultimate in lighting go with his upgraded wire harness as well. The lightoutput with the e-codes, wireharness and 100w bulbs rivals most new cars.

I have not yet installed my iceshark kit wiring, but I went ahead and put the cibie h4 lights in w/ 55/60w bulbs. It made a huge difference. Try this first.

I also put in the euro fog/driving lights. That made a huge difference as well. Now, when I flash to pass, people dive out of the way day or night.

With IceShark's wiring harness, you'll notice a big difference even with the stock lights. The main reason the lighting in these cars sucks is the wiring job that they did.

Here are some good pictures that MTM posted when he got the whole package installed:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ght=headlights

The pictures are probably the best comparative ones around. The only glitch is he forgot to take a picture of the old/before high beams. He was just doing all this for his own purposes so you have to cut him some slack here and be happy he took the time and energy to do what he did in the first place and post it for others to see.

Techno Duck is right - just some DOT Sylvania SilverStars are not going to do much for you other than lighten your wallet. I think there is a pun in there somewhere. You need to get some good E-Code lenses and good H4 bulbs. That will make you better than where you are now, but to really step up into the big leagues you have to rewire, no way around it. You just lose too much voltage through the stock wiring.

Halogen bulbs vary light output at the 3.4th power to voltage changes. Lose 15% voltage at the bulb and you lost 50% of light output. Or the other way around, if you can increase delivered voltage by 15% you will get 100% more light out. If you look at MTMs pictures he is probably a little over 400% increase in light output due to upgraded wiring and running 90/100 watt bulbs. The rest of the improvement is the E-Code lens that places the light where you need it on the road rather than lighting up the sky sending messages to ET.

That is pretty much where you stand with these cars and there is no cheap and easy solution that takes 15 minutes. But it is possible to run or beat the best arc HIDs that MB, Audi, BMW, etc. are running today. And for a lot less drain on the wallet.
