Default Where to buy metric hardware?

I need to order/buy 6 metric coupling nuts. McMaster doesn't have the size I need (M5) and I've been looking via Google search, but nothing came up. Any suggestions?

With all the maintenance I am doing to my car, I have always been able to source Ace's hardware for everything. Im not sure what a "coupling nut" is, however......

Sears always has all the metric stuff I need... The place is a little low-brow but they do have just about everything.

You're talking about a metric coupler? Something that has a female threaded connection on both sides to connect, say, two lengths of threaded rod to effectively make a longer one? I can't fathom why you'd need such a thing, but I suspect you're going to have a heck of a time finding one in a metric size / thread pitch. I spent a long time last weekend looking for standard metric threaded rod to replace my trashed turbocharger bolt (it's long, IIRC 125mm, or about 8"), since nobody had the bolt, I was going to just use threaded rod, cut it down with a Dremel and put a nut on the end, but I couldn't even find that. I tried several hardware / auto parts / fastener shops (not many are open on weekends though). I'd try a fastener shop first, if they don't have it, they can point you in the proper direction. If all you need is standard metric hex nuts / bolts, Home Despot works fine.

the home depots around here don't carry too much in metric. and yes, i need a hex our round piece with female thread all the way through it to an M5 bolt. i'm doing some "mods" and i need a threaded coupler or a way to mount someting to existing hardware without permanantly modifiying my bumper cover.

Coupling nuts are always hard to find in odd ball sizes unless you are getting boxes of them. For all the time and money you will spend chasing your tail I would get another coupling nut that is small enough to drill out the center for a clean bore and just run a 5mm tap through it. Problem solved.

Exactly - you beat me to it - might be an excuse to get a tap set.

Porsche-O-Phile, you know you could just get that long bolt from a dealer, right?
