Geo
Thanks. The pix will help. Also does anyone have an exploded view of the door lock assembly?
That may also help me open this can of worms....
Another fine mess.

Pete, Maybe these will help you:

Part No. 2 in the top pic and No. 9 in the bottom pic are the ones that will release the lock mechanism the easiest. Good Luck, I would still try going in through the lock lifter hole at the rear of the door panel.

Pete,

I think 2Tight is right about removing the lock actuator button and poking sometihng down there to see if you can free it up. But if you have to cut something, I'd cut the inner door panel. Maybe you remove all the screws you can reach and cut the panel around the screws behind the door frame. Then you might have a chance of repairing the panel.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the exploded view. I need to find a way to get the lock mechanism free from the door handle (part 9) once I do that, I am sure I can unlock the door. I am not sure where part 2 in the top pic is, or what it is for that matter. Is that showing power locks?

Yes, the locks are manual only. So I think I only need to refer to bottom pic.

If the door was not closed, I would have no problem. I just closed it before I realized the parts were crossed. Hence, I am screwed.

One of the easiest ways of performance upgrade is reducing weight, by not being able to open the pass door you've done a unplanned performance upgrade. Stop groaning and enjoy the new found acceleration.

Dang Pete - I've looked at the drawings and gone over the procedures I wrote and I can't come up with anything other than cutting the door panel to gain access. I'd keep trying the slim jim though - at least until you can source a replacement door panel.

That has alot of merit, especially in the near term...

Is it time for stupid suggestions yet or have all of the stupid suggestions been made already?

I was in an accident (in a Crown Vic) a couple of months ago, hit from behind. The door wouldn’t open so I had to kick it open from the inside. Have you tried to pull the inside handle and give it a good hit with your shoulder. You may break your shoulder if you try too hard or are in bad shape. Maybe it will work maybe it wont.
