Default Factory alarm

hello everyone, well i was thinking of hooking up the original alarm. all the components are there but no key.
would just getting a new tumbler and key unit fix it or it be better off un-installed?
would getting an after market alarm be sufficient to deter theft or both?

Factory alarm is a 20 yr old design.
Might want to consider replacing the lot with something newer, this might even bring down your insurance rates.....
Cheapest solution will be a new key, factory / dealer can help you to that.

Having an after-market alarm is like comparing the B-2 bomber to a bi-plane. Ignore the Central Locking System....very basic protection at best.

I spent $60 to have a key made for my alarm switch only to find out that the switch was bad.

I really cannot see why people don't like their factory alarms?.

What, no *chirp* *chirp* ?

I DO understand if the alarm is broken though...more expence than a new one.

The only problem I have is when opening the door for a lady you have to first unlock the alarm then go back over to your own side....Many times though, the lady sees your extra effort and leans over to unlock your door, exposing .............I digress.

Sometimes German automotive electrical systems are just a very close notch above Lucas Electric...need I say more?
