Default Alpine Alarm System Prepurchase Questions

Looking around at car alarm systems. Opinions welcomed. I have been searching older posts on 968.net and Rennlist.

One source I have come across is Hookedontronics They sell Alpine security system models
Alpine SEA-8081 for $228 (not in stock) comes with 1 remote
and
Alpine SEC-8063 for $288 (in stock) comes with 2 remotes

These models appear to have been on the street for sometime. Has Alpine come out with new models to replace these? Any experience with either of these or other current model Alpine security system units?

The SEA-8081 is Ai-NET compatible, which appears to be an Alpine proprietary interface allowing Alpine receivers, security and other stuff presumably to communicate with each other. Why do I need my security system to communicate with my stereo head unit?

Various sites also offer the Alpine 150R security system. Consumer Guide refers to this as a discountinued model but still available.

Thanks for comments.

PS: I also posted this at 968.net

I have not been able to find reference on the Alpine USA web site to their current auto alarm product line.

I have the older sec-8048. I have been impressed with the reliability of these alarms. However, get used to changing the setting as the dual zone motion sensor is quite sensitive. On the upside, it can configured a hundred different ways which is just peachy.

I don't have any experience with alpine alarms, but have some experience with other brands. My 944 has a crimestopper alarm that I got off ebay for like $50. Crimestopper is owned by Clifford, so I thought that I'd give the brand a try. So far it has been reliable. My truck has an "impulse" brand alarm, but it looks to have came from the same factory as the crimestopper unit. Both have the dual stage adjustable shock sensor, two remotes, parking light output, keyless entry, starter disable, and all the other goodies.
The alarm on my truck paid for itself last month when a thief tried to break in.The siren and flashing lights must have scared the person off right after they broke the window. I don't know if the thief was a professional or an amateur, but at least ten other cars were broken into and items were taken within one week of my truck's break in and within one mile of its location.

In 1990 I was working for half the year in San Diego. I was driving my 944 and renting an apartment in La Jolla. My alarm saved my 944 at least four times. What saved my 944 was a microphone that was part of the alarm. The microphone picked up the frequency of glass breaking.

Evidence is that Alpine has left the car alarm business
see http://www.adelcom.net/ALPINE-sec-150r-Page.htm Must read the web
page quickly before it jumps to Clifford. There is no link from
www.alpine-usa.com to auto security, while there is to their other products.

So, suggestions on systems as good or better than Alpine appreciated.

Thanks.
