Default Ac/Heat always on....????

Yup no matter what my car always has air coming out of the vents. Its like it is on the lowest setting all the time. And yes I have it turned off..Anyone ever have this problem?

I have the same problem.. the **** is on the lowest and the snowflake is off and the other **** is on the blue.. but heat keeps comming out.. i jus closed the vents for now but still seeps through, ne thoughts neone?

The fans run on the 944 as soon as you turn the key to the acc position. If you only get hot air it could be the infamous heater clip. Do a search on RL and you'll find plenty of tips. You can also check out Clark's Garagehttp://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/hvac-01.htm .

The heater control valve may also be failing.

On my early 944, there was a clip holding the slide-cable in place right behind the control on the dash, and the clip broke. I now have heat all the time too.It's just a pain to get to it from what I've heard.

Constant heat can be a bad clip under the dash, a bad heater valve for the coolant or the control unit may be bad. Also if the fuse is blown, the control unit defaults to full hot.

If your saying that there is always air moving out of the vents (not heat) then that is normal. Even with the fan in the off position you can generally feel some air movement at the vents, even at a standstill. Not a lot. Both of my 951's were/are this way.
