i dont know anything about that car, but the dealer selling it is the same one that was selling a 1990 944S2 last year that was a real dog. and he was asking $1,000 more for that car than the one you are looking at.
Tread cautiously.

Dan,
the S2 they were selling last summer had ripped seats, cracked dash, curb rash, prior body work, current need of body work, etc. no records.
I didnt see the car. Geico used it as a comparable and the above is what the salesman told me.
i bet the one owner gem you are looking at does not have records. so plan on belts, clutch, cam tensioner, cam chain, throw in a clutch for good measure and dont forget the rip on the right side bolster of the drivers seat which means the left bolster is in worse shape.
did i just add about 3500 to the asking price? On the other hand it may be a gem. gotta look at it to be sure. An ex of mine (and her triplets) lives down the block from them. They are across the street from the mavis and the midas.
some on this board would say it is still a great deal simply because it is a porsche. I dont subscribe to that line of thinking. when my S2 was stolen last year, I looked into similar cars, and when the price of a 944 NA with a resale value of 5k started to approach 8k, I decided to go with the Z28, newer car, 150 more hp, dual air bags, abs, bigger car, better safety cage, etc. for less money. I dont think that car if in perfect condition would pull much more than 10-11k. The low mileage gems are going for a premium, but one with something like 30k recently went for about 15k. I looked at the ad yesterday, and without seeing the car, the numbers dont add up.

Tom,
thanks for the info. I did get a chance to get over there and see and drive the car. Except for the seats and console cover the car seems to be in in great shape. The salesman said there are records however, it was after closing time so I didn't look. They said I can take it to a mechanic to check out if it is not too far however, the 2 choices I have are west babylon and maybe huntington (If you know of a place for a PPI would apreciate the referral). Going to go back and take a better look early this week i hope.
Thanks again

Your offer is much appreciated. I might be going over there tomorrow late afternoon or early evening. Have some things to do first home and then if time permits will take the ride. If you do have some free time and feel like taking a ride over will I will work around your schedule. Thanks again.
