Default Picture of my sway bar connection. Why the gap?

Okay. I got a 27mm front sway a month or so ago.. I've been using it this way, but I noticed it when I put it together that it wasn't quite right.

The nut is tightened all the way to the end of the threads, the bushings look in good shape best I can tell. There is still a gap between the bushing and the nut though,, leaving slack in the whole sway bar I imagine. The lower washer thing is welded on btw. It didnt seem to be like thsi with my old sway bar. Any ideas? The upper bushing seems ti sit half inside the control arm, I was wondering if there is supposed to be a washer on both top and bottom of EACH bushing? This would keep the bushing from sitting so far in the control arm, i'm guessing. totalling in 4 washers...

here's a pic i made in paintbrush. Skills.

It sounds like your bushings are old and compressed. They do get that way with time. You need new. Got a real pic so we can see?

i'll try later on. I'm at work.. Any chance you have specs on the height of a new busing? I really didn't think the bushings looked compressed, but, then again, I've never seen new.

I don't have it off the top of my head, but when I replaced mine, the old ones were compressed to almost 1/2 the height of the new ones.

That's where mine came from! It may be a good time to order the bushings for the sway that goes in the center hangar pieces as well.

Devon, bring it by, I'll do it for you - I enjoy that job.
Where's college again, was it one of the RI state schools?

URI. Thanks for the job offer. If I'm ever paralyzed or something, ill remember you. hehe. I know it's only a 30 min. job or so... That's one reason why I used to like it, because it was simple. Now if you want to take apart the door panel on my passenger door and fix or put in another door handle for me when i figure out what i need. be my guest.
