Normally the hurricanes don't even come through here..they get much more often in like GA/NC/SC. this year seems to be the exception though...2 major ones within a month?? Being stuck in this hotel room sucks bigtime...It's gonna get real bad if we lose power

Expecting 50 MPH winds tonight here in north central FL.
But my 968 is toughing it out in the path of the eye, down in Largo FL.
Hurricane map update:
Wonderful technology
And when Hurricane Francis is over, we still have Ivan heading our way.

I just found out my flight Monday is cancelled and i can't get out until Tuesday. The kicker is that I'm near Tampa and I'd have to fly out of Ft. Myers. That's about a 2 hr. drive to the airport.
If it looks decent tomorrow morning I may rent a car and drive home. As slow as this thing is moving I may be able to leave before it gets here. This sucks.

Someday, earthquake prediction will be as transparent as hurricane watching is today. Imagine watching the earthquake channel on TV. "Big one predicted for next Tuesday. Looks to be an 8.5. Here's a map showing the epicenter in Pasadena, and the varying intensity of the quake around the epicenter. ... bla bla bla bla"

Man, this thing is moving so slowly. It's been sort of here for like 8 hours and is now just barely onshore, will take almost the entire day to get past. It looks like it's going to be going a good bit south of Orlando now...over by the coast my house has been under some heavy winds for quite a while now, with a while to go. Winds over there are like 70 mph at the moment..it was more earlier. Sitting here stuck in a hotel room sucks

Yep, going to have to scratch my "run off to the lower keys and play for the rest of the weekend" idea. Feeder bands are hitting all of the lower keys now.
We had some real bad wind last night but now it just looks like rain with a few gusts now and then. Word is that the little restaurant down the street has been open 24 hours since this whole mess started. I think I am going to go see about getting some breakfast if they still have power.

They didn't close Florida.. Francis did.
I am going to go out for a bit now. I will bring the camera and snap some pics. They say a big ficus tree fell down on the golf corse maybe I can get a shot of that for everyone.
For the most part Ft.Lauderdale seems to have come out of this pretty well.

They just got a wind gust at 124 mph over by the Space Center (about 10 miles from my house, yikes) but I'm talkin to my friend online who lives in my city and he still has power, so apparently the destruction isn't too bad over there right now....the wind here in Orlando is picking up a bit. Power flashes a couple times but never went out. Got many more hours of just sitting and waiting though.

I just got back and there is not anything worth taking pictures of. A few small tress pushed over, one big one on the golf corse and thats about it. Not too much flooding, a lot of palmfrons are in the road but thats about it.
I went to check in the P cars and they are just fine as well. Everyone seems to have power and there was only one traffic light out (fell off in the street).
Hope everyone comes out of this as good as my area. If anyone has it bad in the area and needs any help just let me know.
