Question Will these tires fit? and a lock question

This is my first post to the forum. a couple of quick questions:

1) I have a chance to purchase a set of four 225/55/16 tires for my 89 NA. I run 968 16" cup wheels on the car - 7's and 8's.

Question is - will these tires fit - particularly on the 7" wheels? Handling and/or clearance trade - offs? (The "standard" tire in the rear given the wheel, as I understand it, is a 225/50, rather than a 55.

Car is a daily driver.........

2) The interior door lock plunger on the passenger side is very stiff. Is there a lazy (i.e. not removing the door panel) way to try to free things up?

Thanks for your help!

As far as the door lock, there is no "lazy way". need to pull the panel, remove the lock gaurd for the
latch and remove the rear window trac. Comes out with 1 8mm screw at the bottom of the track. Is it hard pulling up the rod or turning it with the key.

the tires shoulf fit but they are a little on the tall side but not but much..with the popper offset you can use up to 10" in the reAR..I had 9.5 on the rear from my last one.

I'd go with the 50 series.
Those have a ~25.7" overall diameter where the 225 50 will have a ~24.7.

I was running a 225/60 15, which is only 25.6", and it came up to the very edge of the wheel arch in the back. I went to a 225/50 15, and it's much better looking (23.5" diameter).
MY OPINION - teh 225/50 16 for you would look much better.
