I am looking at getting 5 point seat belt for me '86 961, who makes harness bars for these cars? I don't feel like pay WAY to much for it either but want it to be safe.

Be careful using 5 pt belts and harness bars with stock seats, they are not designed for it.

Damn X posts! Stig, I should have said be careful using harnesses and bars with stock seats. I would be pretty comfortable with it for AutoX but that is about it.

Matt, I believe you about any harness as the tension and belt will rub against your seats and cause unusual, fast wear on the seat ribbing and leather itself
Seat overs naturally will prevent that.

Weltmeister makes a harness bar that's affordable and easy to install on the C-pillar of the car. www.paragon-products.com and www.performanceproducts.com have them as well as other vendors so check them out.

The problem with using harnesses with stock seats is that the shoulder belts will want to migrate downwards (and thus off your shoulders). With stock seats, I would recommend getting a harness that has a bridge or h-connector section between the shoulder belts. Even then, it's not the ideal set-up. Best off to purchase a set of race seats with the shoulder belt eyelets, even for autocross, IMHO.

Jeremy said much better what I was attempting to. Brey-Krausse makes a nice on and the Redline unit is the best harness bar available if for no other reason than where it places the belts. Looks cool too.

does the brey-krause, weltmeister, or redline harness bar bolt into the C pillar?
also, we should differentiate between harness GUIDE bar and harness bar. apparently they are two different things and one cannot be used as the other. anyone care to elaborate?

KLA did make a Harness Bar at one point but that item has since been discontinued.
