no, not the feline kind...
This was taken from the bracket just before the muffler...
The PO had someone weld in the CAT, so I couldn't pull it out of the car.
I had to undo the exhaust at the manifold to get it to drop enough.
So, tomorrow, I'll try to break it apart. A broomstick didn't even do anything. I have an old golf club shaft that has a point on it that should work..
btw, digital camera... priceless

No, I tried removing the whole front exhaust, but its not budging..
I'll just beat the crap out of it for awhile, semi hook up the exhaust and try to blow the crap out.
It would have been better to be able to just remove THAT section.
The screen looks OK, and I'm wondering if I should try to salvage it.
here's another pic ....
Do you think that I have an oil leak ??????

You have two choices:
1) Remove the cat and weld in a straight pipe (would not pass emissions)
2) Get a new/used cat, Lindsey sells a 'high flow' cat for the 944's(http://www.lindseyracing.com/Merchan...951EXHAUSTMILD)
You can contact them and ask them to make it fit the stock system.

Use the jack handle for a 2 1/2 ton jack. Slam it into the catalyst many times until pieces come apart. Dump out all the pieces with the front part (towards the engine) towards the ground. Don't ask how I know.

I shall quote myself :
'You can contact them and ask them to make it fit the stock system'
And yes the NA/Turbo/S/S2 is 2.5"
Maybe they can, or ther could be a trick to weld it in place.............

I had that very problem in my 86 GTI. The car actually starting shooting the honeycomb out of the tailpipe when I revved it! It eventually shot all of it out, and the car ran like a raped ape!

many manufacturers make hi flow cats in different sizes. I believe flowmaster makes one that is somewhat affordable. Best thing to do is weld on some flanges and make a test pipe/and a cat so you can switch in and out, or get a hiflow cat.
