Rant - A Porsche design flaw could have killed me today.
Good think I was driving and not my wife or someone else. I was at the track and as I came into a turn I got on the gas. Next thing I know my foot feels so weird. My car is not accelerating and then next thing I know it's full throttle. My car instantly starts to jump so i hit the brakes and my car starts bogging. somehow the car jumps out of gear and accelerates beyond redline and poof, my car shuts off. I get out of my car and look down at the pedel. It was broken at the bottom of the pedal. The piece of crap pedal is made of plastic and the bottom part just flexes as you push on the gas. It's very thin plastic. I can't believe Porsche designed it like that. I'll take some pics in a little while. I'm pissed.

C'mon, ask a bunch of people on this board and they will tell you the 944 was undoubtably the finest car ever made.
How dare you say there was a design fault in this perfectly engineered car

did you turn it off or did it turn off "magically all by itself" when you went past redline?
if it did it "magically by its self" what did it do? any grumbeling or nasty noises? have you drained or checked your oil yet? im wondering what kind of chunks of metal youre gonna find.
ill say a prayer for your engine tonight.. cause they dont turn themselves off when you go past redline, unless somthing by coincedence failed or cut the engine and saved yer butt by shutting it off.

no car is bullet proof. if a car is driven right and well maintained it will be virtually bullet proof. but if somthing goes wrong (ie rpms pegged in neutral) any car will go.
i think youre lucky if you started it again and it ran like normal. if i were you id drain the oil get rid of some of that nastyness and have a look just incase and make sure you dont see glitter. then put fresh in it and try to forget.

If you're the first person out of all the thousands on Rennlist to break the gas pedal...then maybe...just maybe it has something to do with your driving.
Not to just break it even, but to break it in such a way that it causes it go to WOT by your description.

I nearly broke mine in my race car. Not a force thing, but wear of the plastic hinge at the pedal bottom. I replaced it it being craked about 1/2 way through. I would think that it would return to no throttle when you let off however.

Same thing happened in my 928S4 only diff I was in rush hour traffic. Fortunately I was lucky enough to avoid an accident and shut it off before any damage - being an auto it could not over rev.
