Rant - A Porsche design flaw could have killed me today.

Did you check that price? Every time I have to fix something, the SCREWS that hold it in are $5!
If the $5 one lasted 20 years, does that mean the $275 one will last 1100 years?

That's fairly common in German cars actually. The pedal in my sister's 1982 BMW 320i was the same way (it never broke) and so was the pedal in my 914 (still strong after 28 years).

The official thing on the "red zone" for my '82 Honda standard motorcycle: "The engine should not be operated with the tachometer needle in the red zone for extended periods of time. The needle may be in the red zone for brief periods when extra acceleration or power is needed."
Of course, a Porsche is not a Honda and an automotive engine is not a motorcycle engine, but the same basic principle applies. Redline is pretty much never the maximum burst point. Redline is the maximum continuous speed.

I won't pay $275 for a foot pedal. I did see something on display at Parts Heaven though. I'll have to investigate it this weds. and see if they make it for the 944.

You know Ryan, being a redneck, I'd have to say your pic on page 2 had THE cheap solution; ZIP TIES!! Zip ties, duck tape, and safety wire. Armed with those 3 items, I could solve the Middle East crisis (with a sawz-all and vice grips for weapons).

You're welcome to go out and buy a new Porsche. I'm sure the gas pedal will hold up fine under track use. The car will cost a bit more than a 20-year-old 944, though.

If anyone is interested let me know. I think it's a worthy little upgrade.
