Hey guys as many of you know, I bought Macfreak007's old car. It was fine for about a 2 hour drive home until I pulled into my neighborhood. The oil pressure warning lamp went on. It went away when it got a little gas though.
Now the car has zero oil pressure and the lamp is on. Could this be Oil cooler seal related? The coolant tank has chocolate malt in it and I know the seal needs to be replaced. But would that cause the car to have 0 oil pressure?

Oh boy. Where to begin here.
If you have 0 oil pressure and brown goo in the overflow tank, DO NOT DRIVE IT. Those are probably two separate issues that need to be worked out. The goo is hopefully just oil-cooler seals, but could be a portent of a bad HG or other issues. What does the oil look like? This needs to be fixed ASAP.
The no oil pressure issue could be many things. Including, but not limited to: OPRV, no oil, oil leaking into the coolant and no more oil, bad pump, seal, etc.
I say take that to Ken Farler before you try to work on it yourself. No offense, but I remember all of your old threads.
Want his number?

Im gonna try fixing the seals myself then if this doesnt solve the problem ill decide something else. It will OCCASIONALLY have oil pressure. It hasnt been started in days. I checked the dipstick and it has lots of oil. Cross your fingers on the seals guys.
Yeah tifo i remeber my old threads too. It was a good learning experience, I already have Farlers number too

I need to do the oil cooler seals on my daily car due to a leak, no coolant mixing. I check it regularly and I keep putting it off because I really don't want to do it cuz it's a beeotch. This is comming from a guy that ripped a 944 down to nothing, painted it and built a turbo motor to swap into it, Did a headgasket on my mom's 84 NA, numerous timing belts, rebuilt Tammy's balljoints, parted two 944s, and done a metric ton of other work on these cars, and still dread the oil cooler seals. It's no fun to do in the car.
On the oil pressure issue, I'm kinda thinking that the cooler seals went, it wasn't caught in time and the bearings are shot? Dunno, I lost oil pressure in my car, replaced a ton of stuff that didn't appear to be bad and primed the system really well and is now fine. I'm thinking it lost prime due to a bad oil filter check valve? That was my car tho, and no milkshake. Doesn't sound good tho.

I had an oil cooler seal problem on my 88 NA. When i started the car, the oil pressure was just over 2 bar (when cold) and the oil level light came on.
The coolent was filled with oil, the oil level was below the min mark.
Replaced the seals, flushed the engine and cooling system and everything went well.
Oil gets into the cooling system, thus reducing oil level and hence pressure.
If you suspect the oil cooler seals (an not head gasket) to be the source of things and decide to tackle the job yourself, the only 'special' tool reequired would be the OPRV alignment tool (Oil Pressure Relief Valve).
'While Your There', replace the OPRV seals to get the job done right.

A little off topic but is it common for people in the US (and Europe) to 'Knock on wood'?
