Default ignition switch

To to remove/loosen it?

It was moved/replaced by the previous owner, because he installed a turbo timer.

Now it is not aloigned properly with the dash trim (the hole for the switch).

How to remove it?

take the two piece column cover off around the switch, should be two screws in the bottom of the column. Look underneath at where the metal ignition cylinder bolts to the bottom of the steering shaft.
i believe it bolts in and the heads snap off for security purposes-they are supposed to- so you have to drill the bolts out on the lower of the column, and put in some new bolts like allen bolts or the factory snap off bolts. I know at least the early cars were like that.

I was able to remove the electrical portion of the switch without removing the key lock by loosening the two screws the retain it. Of course you'll have to contort yourself onto your back in the drivers footwell and use a small flat tipped screwdriver.

Tip: remove the instrument cluster to get some light on the job.

Cheers,

Neil
