Default How much to replace S2 windshield?

The S2 I'm looking at has a cracked windshield. I was wondering how much it would cost to replace the windshield (With the antenea built in), so I could have some haggling power. I'll call PartsHeaven tomorrow, but how much would I look at getting it installed?

To give you a ballpark figure, I'll share this about my 968. The previous owner had the windshield replaced a few years ago. The repair receipt has a grand total of $650.00, and this was for original Sekurit glass. The list price for the windshield was $1350.00, however. Interestingly, I don't see any charges for labor... I hope this helps.

when i broke mine i could not find anyone that stocked that windshield. Factory had it for like 400, they had to get it-one week- and then i would have to have it installed. I found a used one and had a friend who is a glass guy install it for like $20.00.

Safelite has come up repeatedly as being a good source for windshields. Be sure to specify a Sekurit windshield w/antenna. They did mine for under $300. I saved $65 by driving to them instead of having their mobile truck do it.

Make sure they install the spacer for the windshield. Every glass shop other than a Porsche specialist forgets / doesn't know about this and the windshields tend to leak.

Mine is a Sekurit windsheild.
Porsche-o-phile, is the spacer you're talking about for the early cars? Mine was installed in January and I haven't had any leaks or problems.

I had mine replaced about a year ago. I seem to recall the price being $1100
installed. I had a factory OEM windshield installed by the dealership. Since my insurance had glass coverage, I only had to pay the deductable. I am sure that you could probably get it done for cheaper by an independant shop.

If you have insurance it should cost very little. Mine cracked and replacement cost was $50. The glass installer didn't pay the list price for the glass.

375-425 seems a safe bet for the windshield w/antenna

HEY Marc...I didn't know you sold your 951!? That was quick! You were just talking about selling a month or so ago. Who bought it, how much, etc, etc!?

I paid $310 at Safelite in Redwood City. Antenna, tint, OEM Sekurit. That includes some gasket or something from Porsche for $30 or so.

I think that's the spacer - I'm not sure offhand whether it is just for early cars, IIRC it is at least for the 85.5+ cars, but that might not apply to the S2s. I'll check the parts book tonight; just something I've been warned about since I'm probably going to replace the windshield on mine soon. $30 sounds right for the part though - I remember asking the local dealer about it.
