Default Adios, I am buying a 1997 Carrera S!!!

Yep, I am! 33k miles all for $9,000.
Saw an ad on the internet, asked for information. At first I thought it was too good to be true, but it is true. Yipee. Can't wait to send my 40% deposit

and here is the response the seller sent me. Only question is how come it came up as being 15 miles from my zip code?

Hello,

I am glad you are interested in my car. The 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera S, it is still available for sale.
I prefer to let you know all the details about this auction and about this deal so everything to be just fine.

The car is in excellent shape, both fiscal and mechanical, there are no hidden defects and it looks great, turns a lot of heads.
Shipping will be done via Lufthansa Air Cargo from Paris, France and it will take no more then 4 days. I am working for my country Military and Lufthansa will manage me a low price for shipping and I assumed that it is from me to pay for shipping it if you will pay for the money transfer taxes. When I will shipp it, I will arrange for all the dutyes that you will not pay any customs when you will receive it and for this it will be delivered directly to your address.

Delivery Estimated Time: 4 days
Price: $9000 - 40% prior to shipping
- 60% after you receive and inspect the car
Inspection Period: 7 days
Shipping Service: Lufthansa Air Cargo (door to door)
Terms: 30 days money back guarantee

If the car is what you are looking for and if you agree with these conditions then I will be glad to close this deal with you.

I will be waiting your email.
Best regards, Karla.

At first, I thought you were really leaving the 944 world, Tom! Yes, a couple of months ago I almost bought a 1986 RUF 911 Turbo for $7000! If nothing else, these scammers at least give us a laugh from time to time.

Sorry, but you'd be lucky to see the car ot your 40% deposit, it just sounds like a scam, however you may end up with a bargin and good luck to you if you do. But its a $3700 gamble, will they hold hte money in escrow while you check the car out. There's loads of Quad/ATV's on e-bay offering a similar deal. Be Careful

Maybe she has a friend. Should I try to get one for you too?

I emailed back asking for a picture of the title because I wanted to make sure it would pass emissions. I also told her I have a relative in paris that would give her the cash if she wants.

Anxiously awaiting her reply...

The old saying "if it sounds too good to be true - then it probably is" still rings true - doesn't it? I can't believe people are still pulling this stuff.

the best lines are the ones from the recently or to be divorced spouse who has possession or title to his/her "toy" (car, boat, plane, jewellery, condo, etc.) to unload at anyprice ........

sad thing is that sometimes these are true! I was in a retired "receiver manager" office once when he took a call and bought a boat for $112K - that he had tried unsuccessfully to buy the year before for $250K. The seller just happened to be the receiver for the owner's bankrupcy proceedings!

Lufthansa air cargo must be giving him quite a deal...it costs $1000-2000 to ship a car within the US...on a truck! Must be flying business class, not first class!!!
