Everything is normal, until it gets to the housing, which has a slightly smaller inside diameter. There's still the cutout that is the same size, just the other 3/4 or so of the circle. I wouldn't think it would be a problem, expecially living in Arizona and running synthetic. One test might be to see how the alignment tool fits. If it fits alright I'd give it a try. Or I guess I should ask first, is this for the spec car or one of the others?
Well I have dry fit everything. I put the housing in the block and screwed the valve in. So it will fit in the car. I am pretty sure the line-up tool will work too. I just am not sure if that minor diameter difference will cause issues. I was hoping that some had done this already and could say. "I tired it and it did not work, no oil pressure or I blew out filter". Or "I have one of those in my car and it works just fine." I know I could try it and see what happens. Yep for the spec car.

Hmm I guess I probaby could attempt to machine out the housing a bit to ensure clearance.

I have a late housing off of a 87 S block. If intersted, drop me a line. I also have a early housing off of a 83 block.

Well I need a turbo oil filter housing. I am assuming the 87 S is an 87 944S.

Thanks for input.

Guess what, I'm parting out a 86 951 motor that has bad scratches in the cylinders. It has the filter housing on it.

the 86 turbo used an early housing. I need one from an 87 or later. I already have one from an 86 turbo.

Sam,
Thanks for the housing. When I got from you I knew what is was getting and would have worked just right. Now with the late block it is little more complicated.

I am thinking I will just use my dremel and grind a little more clearance just to make myself feel good.
