The coolest 914 I've ever seen had a 3.2L carrera engine with a boxster (or maybe boxster S) trans...

914's are great little cars, if they're not ready to break in half due to rust.

you are correct.. the thing is you shouldnt just get a 2.7 and put it in there blindly. you should actually have one properly rebuilt put in there, with the right studs and everything.

i dont think a 951 would fit..

i never said it wasnt possable.. you can definitly do it. just gotta do alot of stuff to shoe horn it in there and make it fit. i believe you have to cut out alot of space (in the rear trunk most likely.. but who needs a trunk!)

I have heard stories of the turbo engine swap being done, but I have never seen one in person. People fit 5.7 litre Chevy engine in these cars though so I'm thinking that fitting a turbo-ed 3.6 would be well within the realms of possibility.

I donno about the boxster S engine...

I think the 3.2 carrera motor would be a better bet...keeping it air cooled makes things a whole lot simpler.

Although...why not do a 996 motor if you're gonna go watercooled?

scat cam or crank? i never knew scat to make cams.. i could be wrong through. either way, scat makes good stuff. who built the engine? what other kinda goodies you doin to the motor?

what size p&c, and what compression ratio?

i have saturday off. let me know if you want any help in the garage this weekend. (ive been kinda down and out since what happened to the nine dozen again and feel the need to tinker once again.. just dont have the cash to tinker on my own right now).

i have been planning out the motor i want to build in the next 2 years. wont be cheep, but will be worth it. scat ultra light crank, lightened fly wheel, norris cam, norris double valve springs, larger valves, carillo rods, shasta pistons and cylinders.. 135 hp goodness, that can rev to 7k, with out blinking an eye.

now i just gotta get about 6k for parts (including core motor).. (i think i may have to make this a 3 year plan instead of a 2 year plan..). then there is machining, balancing, etc...

then comes re gearing the transmition.. theres another 2k+.... hmmm..

sigh.. its a dream right now... hopefully i can make it a reality.

Hey Dan,

Glad to hear that you got the deal worked out with Mike on the motor! Looks like it's water and ramen noodles for the next few weeks until you sell your old one, eh?
