Default Goodbye 944, hello E36

Sad to say but my 944 is officially now on ebay. Couldn't pass up a great deal on one of these BMW's. I am sure I will miss the '44 and I know I will probably get another one (Turbo, no more n/a), somwhere in the future. This was a great forum.

How would you compare the feel of the E36 with the 944? Is it like apples and oranages? I always liked the look of the E36 M3, especially in 'estoril' blue. Defenetley one of those cars id like to have in the future, either the E36 or the M-Coupe.

What are the specs on the E36 cars?

What is the world coming to?

I hope all you defectors get passed by a nice 951 now and then! As for myself, I'm thinking of giving my 83 warhorse some downtime on sunny days to get caught up on maintenance and getting a 600cc motorbike as a daily driver!

This particular E36 has the 2.5 liter inline 6 with DOHC 24V. Even better it has the VANOS variable valve timing. Its got around 189 HP. The feel between the 2 cars? Well, the E36 has almost 10 years ahead of my 944, but yes they are completely different cars. The car's engine is super smooth and the whole car is very solid and well built German piece of engineering. Handling on this car is as great as the 944 same goes for the road feel. I got a really GREAT deal on this car and serves me well as it is more practical hauling my almost 3 year old son around.

three years ago, after my brother used my S2 for a week he sold his 325i to his ex wife and bought his NA.

When the S2 was stolen I seriously considered a 325/328 coupe but went for the Z28 because of the hatch, and I didnt want to park a car worth over 10k at the train.

Enjoy the Bimmer.

Tom,

Speaking of stolen cars
My A4 driving buddy tells me they steal A4's and S4's left and right in NY & NJ!
Great...just great.. Off to get a better alarm on it.

(The Audi Forums dont even come close to Rennlist)

I have owned a a 1998 E36 328i since new. Six years and no serious problems yet. The build quality is rock solid. They are fun to drive and very comfortable too. Overall, these look like some of the best used car values out there. Enjoy!

Hey Marc, congrats on the S4. The Spyder is still running strong.
