I am done with engine R&R. I expected to have to spend a day or two troubleshooting miscellaneous problems, but the only things I found wrong are a slight PS leak, the steering wheel is off-center, and it pulls slightly left. Since I replaced the oil cooler seals and didn't feel too well about how that went, I half expected to have an oil/coolant milkshake.
Here's a list of what I did:
R&R engine.
Replaced oil cooler seals.
Replaced all clutch components.
Replaced all coolant hoses.
Replaced rear oil seal.
Flushed the bejeezus out of the cooling system.
Switched to DexCool and WaterWetter and distilled water.
Installed thermostat, never had one.
Replaced shifter cup-bushing.
I started this last Thursday night and I figure I have about 40 hours logged. Not bad for doing this solo and in the confines of my garage.
Next up, ball joints, tie rod, shocks, etc. Re-upholster driver's seat. Then I'm going to strip the body down and get it painted right. After it's painted, I'm going to lay a short coating of rhino-lining or something similar to the bottom, front-edge of the front valance to discourage curb rash.
Anyone have a template for a do-it-yourself nose-venting?
