What can I say.. It's so not normal. I was watching 5th gear and they had their to 10 of all cars of all time- and this was one. Ok, It's NOT a Porsche..
Hell, I'd just like to see an F40!
Certainly one of MY favorites.
Starting bid? 300,000.

Another one for 299,000 if you wanna cheap out.

Those things are such automotive orgasms.
Unfortunately, with some 5k and 13k miles, I can't help but wonder what, really, is the point? I mean, it seems that they are buying these things purely as garage candy instead of, you know... driving them! I realize they are expensive to maintain, but I should think that if you can afford an F40, you can afford to drive it.
Or maybe I'm in the minority here...?
BB.

BeerBurner, I remember reading an article about 10 years ago that tye "typical" Ferrari owner has 3-4 Ferrari's, all as pleasure only vehicles. This was coming from Ferrari's own statistics. So, assuming you have a 355F1, F-40, and a 456GT, not to mention the SUV and maybe a Mercedes S-Class in the garage.........you probably wouldn't drive the F40 much. Reserve it for an early sunday morning when the weather is perfect and there is no traffic.

That is a good one! At least he apologizes for the spelling - but what about the rest?
"I'm very sad to salle this car!!! It's running very nice, with a great pick up. The car has a OHC enginge type with a 147 horsepower. The titel on this car is absolutely clean and transferible. The car has a small dent on the driver's side of the vehicle. The dent is fixable with smal effort. also the drivers seat has a fiew scartchers. Beside this the car looks and drives very good, with a perfect sound. Ofcourse a 17 years old car need's some work, but not to forget that we are talking about a porsche. And the milage is also very discent (135000). I realy nejoyed having this car. The reason i purchased this car was, to make it a sport car. My plans were to install a turbo system and some other upgrades. But i runned out of money, and since i am going to school, my time is limited anyway's. The 2.3 liter egine is very flexible, because my friend has purchased the same model long before me, and upgraded it to 280 horspower. I wish you alot of fun on the biting. Sorry for any spelling errors, and that i can't provide the transport for this car."
The terms of sale are a piece of work too.
"I would like the money recieved befor shippment. I am ok with money order or checks . The car will be shipped right after the money for the car, has been recieved. I do not provide a shippment method, so it's up to the buyers how to get the car. I am happy to help you with the shippment. The title is clean and ready to be transfered. You can reach me under 240-"
I think he saw this "2.3 liter" beauty on the used car lot and took a picture of it. Now he wants someone to send him a check (he's OK with money order too). Sure this isn't our friend, mike_99l?

One of Doug Hayashi's open track friends (Amir) races a F40 in hillclimbs and other random events...http://www.nsxfiles.com/vc2001.htm
One of the richer guys in Evansville has one as well, the carbon fiber door panels were CUT to fit speakers so he could use it more like a daily driver kinda car...eek.

I've video tape of myself riding in a F40 at Roebling Road during the Ferrari Club event in Savannah. The car had LM turbos and larger intercoolers and a big wastegate. It was remarkable. We hit at least 170 on the front straight. I have ridden in 3 F40s total. I have been a Ferrari owner for over 3 years, and have written articles on Ferraris, and the F40 is one of my MUST have cars before I get too old to drive. I am a certifiable Ferrari nut.

if you guys really want to see something impressive, some guy in Germany restored an F-40 from the ground up that was declared totalled! It cost him 440,000 Euros to get it back up to an absolute perfect status! He even rebuilt the engine and did some improvements to the car too! If someone has that link please post it, it's absolutely amazing and it will make you cry (sad first for seeing such a beautiful car looking like a ball of carbon fiber and aluminum, then happy for such a beautiful restoration and giving the car a new life)

There's a local F40 that gets driven quite often, tons of forum guys spot the car regularly. It's owned by the guy that owns the local exotic shop, and is the only legal one in Canada (I'm assuming there are some illegal ones out east). One day I'll see him on the streets and have a run with him, I don't mind losing to an F-40 at all haha. Just running with one is privilege enough!

I saw an F40 on the road here once. Actually I was in the parking lot of a motorcycle dealer, and they guy pulled up and walked inside. Everybody started piling out of the store and were asking me if it were my car. Oh how I wish! That is my all-time favorite car.
