Default I need a manual steering part (Intermediate Shaft)

I am looking to buy a GOOD condition, used, intermediate shaft to convert my 84 over to manual steering.

I had talked to someone here a while back and they had one. I can not remeber who it was.

Please post or PM me if you have one for sale.

I have the rack, I will need to buy new tie rod ends. Anyone who has done this have info on what those part #'s are? OR... Do I just order them for a 1983 manual rack?

Intermediate Shaft Part # 944 347 027 01 .......Correct..??

James, it just needs to be lengthened, right?

Any reason we cannot cut a PS Int shaft and reweld it with a steel tube over the shaft (for reinforcement) to the right length?

It is only a couple of centemeters. I am afraid it would be impossible to keep the shaft straight and true.

I can get a used one at 20th street in AZ for about 75.00 I was seeing if I could help someone out with any parts they have laying around.

That is part of the purpose of the tubing that is welded to the outside.

Just something to consider.

I think Paragon can get you a new one. They aren't cheap though, but for the peice of mind that the U-joints aren't toasted, it might be worth it. Remember, the U-joints are not (technically) replaceable.

I know Zims has the complete tie rods on their website. Word has it they are getting hard to come by. The tie rods for a manual rack are completely different from those for a power rack.

Call Chuck and see what he can do for you. Paragon had the power intermediate listed for around $250 last I checked.
