Thumbs down I got screwed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I still can't believe how screwed I got on this deal! I already sent my deposit for the car and secured a tralior to go get it on Tuesday. This car sounded just like what I have been wating a year for. After we did a little negotiating, we got settled on a price of $7500.00.At this time I was very excited. This was Friday night at about 7:45. I get home around 9:00 from work when my phone rings. He told me that he was going to have to sell it to someone else for $8300.00?????? I was like isnt that why we AGREED on a price and a DEPOSIT was sent.??????? So after a little praying he ended up calling me back and telling me that he quit his job b/c of stuff like this and he would go ahead and sell me the car for $7500.00. So once again I was excited. Well today my phone rings and its him. Im like hey whats up thinking we were going to set up a time to pick the car up on Tuesday. Instead he gives me the bull **** news that he is selling it to the previous owner of the car for $10,000.00. I can only hope that the old owner reads this post and realizes that he will take less for the car. My dream car down the drain.

Could be just selling it to anyone for 10 grand, by saying its selling to the old owner makes it seem better in a way.

either way, shady and rude.

Well man let me tell you something. I was going to buy that car, after I read your post about buying it he e-mailed me and said since I was the first one to call he would just sell it to me. I thought about it for a bit and decided I couldn't do that too anyone. Sorry you had to go through all this BS.

I can understand it going for more- it was indeed worth more.

The timing, however, sucks. I'd be damn mad too.

i'm not positive, but, you may possibly be able to sue him if you sent a deposit. it's up to you if you wanna pursue it or not. any attorneys here?

Yea, i think that if you sent a deposit, you probably have some legal strength here. I would guess it all depends on how, when, you sent the deposit, had he recieved it, etc.

I got burned on a deal on a '91 C2. The dude had my deposit, but his remorse killed the deal.

No deal is final until you've got the keys and the title. Since my experience, I don't negotiate until I'm in a position to seal the deal and take possession. Get over it and move on. Just my $.02.

Ok, I posted on the other post also, but this really got me mad.

Since xsboost90 was hocking this car for his "bud", I think he has some explaining to do....

He obviously was playing people against one and other to get the highest price for the car, which is fine, until he agreed to sell it to you at a certain price and you sent a deposit. Once he still started to play people to get a higher price, it became illegal.

In any case, yes, you can sue him - and to teach the jerk a lesson, I would! Contact an attorney tomorrow and have him file a lis pendens on the title, that way he can't sell the car because the title will NOT be clear.

I hope you sue him for the car, attorney fees and, of course, pain and suffering

Lol... nice post... I have pleany of money to fight him in court, but one thing I dont have is the time. I dont want everyone to be all over xsboost90 it was not his car just helping out a friend. I know I will find another 951 in a year or so...

i think that if you can get him for doing this - which i believe you can legally since you sent a depost- you should pursue it! I really was just trying to help out a local guy, but i know the car better than the owner obviously. sorry this guy is such a jackass. Any help you need just let me know.
