Cleaning engine and oil change?

I want to clean the inside of the engine. I thought about using Throttle Body cleaner spraying that into the intake of the car and letting it soak and clean the internals of the engine. Then use that engine oil flush stuff from autohoze. Would this be a good idea to do on the 924S to clean all the crap out or not?

My experience on older/higher mile engines, including my present 200,000 mile S motor is that if you don't have any problems now don't go looking for any, just ley sleeping dogs lie.
While this is apples and oranges.
In the Eighties I had a 75 GMC pickup (120,000 miles or so) that I put in a couple of quarts of very high detergent diesel oil. within a month I had to put 4 or5 non-foulers on the spark plugs to keep them from oil fouling within days and leaked oil all over.
I've also heard enough stories about someone wanting to be nice to their car and doing an ATF flush/clean on an auto trans. with no prev. problems then starting to have trouble.
I just have enough to keep me busy and spend my money on now without looking for more problems.

if you want to clean the internals...take the engine out and do a complete teardown and rebuild!
haha but on a more serious note, i would be weary (or is it wary) of putting any of that stuff inside my engine. just my 0.02

IF yuo rad your manual it says DO NOT put any fuel or oil additives in it. And i've only heard of peple having prblems with that sort of stuff. Just do the double oil change and change the filter both times to get anything ese out as well.

WHat about the Bilstein engine Flush that I see advertised at some 76 gas stations and other shops around here. Anyone had one yet? What do they do to your car to 'flush' the engine? ![Confused](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)

I have used engine combustion cleaner on my neon and it ran a lot better after that. I wanted to do the same on the 924S since I know it has never been done.

One word. Techron.
It's the only additive that Porsche recommends, goes in the fuel tank.
As Luis said, you can do succesive oil changes in a short period of time, I know some people have done the ATF trick and been satisfied- but as Paul stated- I dont go looking for trouble.
It finds me all on it's own.

Do NOT put anything in the oil. If you want to clean out the internals (how do you know they need cleaning? What are the symptoms or problems that you are having?) then get a synthetic oil and run that for a while. Synthetics have more detergents than non-synthetic oils. DO NOT use brake or carb cleaner in the engine. The job of carb or brake cleaner is to dissolve and break down oil. Oil is the only thing that is keeping your metal parts from touching. Clean the outside of the engine with anything you want, but if you really want to clean the inside of your engine, the only way to do it properly is to take it apart and rebuild it.
Don't go looking for problems. Wait long enough and they will find you eventually. Brake clean in oil = trouble. Brake clean in intake manifold (still attached to the engine) will mean it will get into the combustion chamber and break down the film of oil that keeps your pistons sliding nicely along the cylinder walls = contact with cylinder walls = scored cylinders.

That's about the story of my life. And Murphy may sound Irish, but I think there's some German in there too.
I have used Rislone and ATF but not for more than a couple of hundred miles.
