Some progress photos of my "944 turbo RS"

I like the scoop idea for the ventilation. I wish I could do it. Glass in a nice NACA duct and run a forced air helmet. That would be ideal.
As for removing the electric hatch release, I've already done that....
OK, mine's a race car with a cage (the release will go through the angled bracket between the cross brace and main hoop in the photo) but I'm sure something could be easily configured and concealed for a road car.

Replace it with a simple solution á la 968 Club Sport using a wire with a handle somewhere in the area of the driver side rear wheel housing.
BTW have you done anything to the roof?

I went to a local automotive upholstery shop, and ordered it through them.
The bag says "George N. Jackson Limited" It's a Canadian company though, with warehouses in Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and Mississauga.
The Vancouver warehouse phone number is on the bag: "604-522-3600" You might be able to track down a distributor through that number.

Rich,
I love how the work area is devoid of everything!! It gives it that mad scientist look -- like soon something very evil will be unleashed upon society.
Verry cool, keep up the good work. (actually i'm spying for decorating secrets for my new garage!)

Thanks Kevin, my parent's manage an apartment building, and although I'm allowed to work on the car, and I'm the only tenant who ever works on a car in the garage, I'm only allowed to do so if I clean up after myself and keep the garage looking tidy, as in the last picture. There are 20+ other cars parked down there so I can't get too ambitous.
944J - For those photos I just have the doorhandles and mirrors taped to the car temporarily. The black gaskets are still in the box!
