Default Necessary to use MOS2 grease or not?

The factory manuals refer to using MOS2 (moly grease for certain applications, like the release bearing guide tube. Is it really necessary to use the moly grease instead of a conventional grease?

I know that paragon and pelican stock it in redline and swepco varieties, but not sure where I could find this stuff locally as I am trying to get my clutch and tranny all put back together this weekend and can't really wait a few days to recieve the stuff.

Also if you might be able to direct me to certain autoparts stores that should stock this that would be great.

you need to use something good in the area. We use a synthetic paste available at NAPA, 15 bucks for a pint.
