Rip, if you can use the shifter to put the car in any of the 6 gears, the rod is probably fine. I'd put my money on a F'ck'ed up tranny gear or something like that. Either way you're probably looking at dropping the tranny. sorry.

Ugh, I have been celebrating the fact that my transmission was fine and that just the driveshafts were damaged for several days now. I should have known I couldn't get away this easy!

I take back my previous statement about the rod being straight all the way back. Back towards the tranny end, there is a slight kink in the tube (it goes one way and then comes back), but the tube itself is still straight. I just pulled it since i am in the middle of a clutch job....should have taken a picture. Maybe later today i will.

Don't jump to conclusions yet. Test the existing tranny first, if you can get all 6, put some axles on and test it. One quicky you should do before putting the car down to test it, change the tranny oil and look for crunched metal chunks. The normal tranny wear and tear won't leave anything in the old oil. One can hope, but I wouldn't bet the farm that your tranny isn't toast, but make sure the patient is dead before you bury him.
