Default Relocating Overseas - Selling 84 944 with LSD, New Clutch

Sad to say, I have to sell the guards red 84 944 as I will be relocating to Singapore for a 2-year assignment. The car is currently in Vancouver, WA state (opposite of the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon).

I bought her for $6,400 in 2002. Put in $3000+ of preventative maintenance work on her. She is also getting a new clutch, front wheel bearings adjust and timing belt re-tension this week (about $1,500 of work and materials). She also has the rare Limited Slip Differential (LSD) option. I am asking $5000 for her...need a quick sale as we are leaving on August 23rd.

She has 78,000-miles on her right now. I am the 3rd owner. The first owner lived in same state, and had her for about 12 years. The car was pretty much a garage queen and a weekend car. A divorce forced him to sell the car. The second owner knew the original owner and bought it from him. He kept her for 2 years, hardly driven at all. Second owner had to sell the car because he had 4 vehicles in the garage (he owns a paint business and the trucks were taking up garage space). I bought her a couple of years ago, and she has been my daily driver.

The pics and maintenance records are on this website:
http://www.globewerks.net/personal/2...porsche944.htm

Main points about the car:
* New clutch installed THIS WEEK

* new timing belt, waterpump, thermostat, distributor cap-rotor & spark wires in 2002
* Timing belt re-tensioned THIS WEEK

* new shift lever and boot
* new battery 5 months ago
* updated H4 Cibie E-Code halogen headlamps 3 months ago (Iceshark kit)
* 10 disk CD changer

* Porsche Electronic Parts catalog on CD included
* Haynes repair manual included
* spare tire, spare tool kit, spare tire air compressor
* New Kumho Ecsta M711 tires a few months ago
* custom steering wheel with Porsche emblem (not shown on website yet)
* carbon fiber dash trim
* two 4" cracks on the dash
* spare dash
* Coverlay dash cover (not installed)
* spare ECU brain
* 4 spare headlamps
* spare center gauge console
* spare center armrest with lid (good condition, no scratches)
* spare cruise control brain
* spare cruise control servo
* original Blaupunkt radio
* Turbo rear valence (sanded, unpainted. not installed yet)

PM me if you are interested.

Its a shame you must sell this car, and at such a discount. Looks like a great deal for someone. If you were closer, I'd write you a check. Good luck. I really don't see you having any trouble moving this car at this price!

Thanks for your condolences Predator

I wish I could keep both the 944 and the 951. The 944 had a lot more preventative maintenance work done on her at this time, and she comes with LSD. The 951 is a non-LSD car, but she is a Turbo after all.

It costs about $84 per month to store each car. Unfortunately, the company will not pay US storage costs. I rolled the dice, and the 951 came out the winner.

ACG - I could store the car for you for a couple of years - seriously. A secure location (read: out in the middle of nowhere, but on the other side of the country!) and caring guy. Since I have my own I wouldn't actually need to drive the car, nor would I want to own it... just an idea.
Shipping the car out to MA would be the most expensive part.
Anyway, it's all I can offer. I just don't want to see you lose such a beauty - even if it is "just" an NA!

97xray,

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately, we have to work with the cost of shipping her to your neck of the woods. It would then cost just about the same as it would be to store her here in a indoor facility.

Thanks again!

Why not just check into storing it? At least that way you (1) wouldn't lose the car and (2) you'd have it when you return to the U.S.?

Storing both cars (the 944 and 951) will cost $84 / car / month = $4,032 total.

This is not going to be a very attractive option. This is why I am thinking of selling the 944, and storing only the 951.

Too bad you can't find a way to get the car out to our area without spending an arm and a leg. I wish I could help you out.
