I believe that they are the same wether its an automatic, or manual transmission.
I have never seen anything that said anything different.

The automatic and 5-speed cars use the same dme. I have done 2 conversions and have not changed the dme out on either. The early and late cars use different dme's though. The later cars can be "chipped" where as the early cars can not. On the 84 that I did the conversion, the part# on the dme was the same as the donor car dme. I'm in the process of collecting parts to do a conversion on a 88 and the part# are the same on it. I know that the early and late injectors are not interchangable due to the different ohms on them, and the feed comes from the dme, so that tells me there are several differences in the early and late cars.

The 85.5 DME's are different than the pre 85.5. The AFM's are also different. If you have a pre 85.5 car you can go with the 85.5 and newer DME if you go with the newer AFM.
If you need an 85.5 DME let me know.

The reason I asked was because the shop working on my car swapped the CPU on it to see if it was the CPU causing havoc on my car with the start and shutdown prob...would swapping the 84 to my 85.5 have worked...cuz after swapping the puters it didn't solve anything.

84 DME will not work as the AFM's are different. If the car ran at all it would not run correctly as the output voltage of an early AFM is different than a late AFM.
