Default starting woes revisited

Well, its been a couple weeks since the new battery was installed. This morning my starter was once again doing the same thing. I haven't gotten a chance to go down and take a glance at the starter really to see if the cables and connections are corroded.

Anyways, I stumbled across a 12 volt starter relay from Performance Products. Has anyone used this? Will this solve my problem also?

UPDATE!

I just came back from my 10 minute break and the same thing happened. No start. However, when I kick the dead pedal board while turning the key the car will start after a couple slams. WTF is going on here, my 84 even did the same thing...

So it doesn't even try to turn over until you kick the dead peddle?

exactly! very frustrating...you can hear a click like the starter is attempting to turn but won't. Give that dead pedal board a couple kicks and she starts turning and starts right up. I dunno about you but I treat my cars like women and I don't like smacking them around, the 944 is like the first i had to kick the board to get it started both 84 and this 86.

So you don't like smacking your women just kicking them. Anyway if the you can here the starter trying to turn then you know it's getting the signal. I would ck and clean both battery cables and the big cable on the starter. Also ck the engine ground and make sure connection is clean and tight. And, make sure the cable isn't full of corrosion. When you are under the car make sure the cables arn't hitting the starter housing. (grounding)

Make sur and clean the batt cables good, they can look good and still have resistance.

I cleaned the cables before I did the battery, COMPLETELY. Obviously no resistance there....it has to be the cables at the starter....I'll let you know Jim. Thanks again
