New porsche owner needs some advice
Hey all, first time to the borads. Brand new to prosches and just got my first of many =). I got a 87 944 Turbo and need some upgrading advice. I used to have a 99 turbo eclipse, so i am fimilair with turbo systems, but not with prosche engines. Need some advice first on some basic bolt on upgrades. Alread have author. stage 2 chips and need some help with an intake system and exhaust. Exhaust im pretty sure im gonna go with the Lindsay 3" downpipe back, but with an intake, is the K&N cone filter with the adpator a good upgrade to help the turbo breath? Here a link to the intake. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
ALso, does any1 know if the lindsay BOV has a nice sound to it or anything like that? My HKS screamed on my Eclipse, and i miss the sound already, any advice?
Anyother bolt on advice would be much welcomed, anything from the pros to a newbie is good advice. Also, i plan on putting 225/40/17 front and 255/40/17 back on my 87 944, and i was told i might have bend my fender out to get the wheels to fit, any1 know about this?

I know a certain someone riding an 89 S2 with 285s in the rear. All the 87s on should have the same offset.

That would be me.
The 255's will fit but you may have to run a little more negative camber and/or roll the fender lip slightly at the 10:00 position.
I'm running 285/30/18's on a 52mm offset wheel and I'm getting a slight tire rub on the rear driver's side on hard right turns. It seems that on 944's the driver's side wheel is closer to the fender lip than the passenger side.

It really breaths well flowing more than enough for the stock AFM. Plus
its a cold intake also.

check your belts- they need to be done every 30,000 without a doubt, retensioned every 10,000 or so- consider it an upgrade for your valves lifespan. Ive heard good things about getting a TIAL wastegate-cant say so much for the "bolt on" installation- and upgrade either to a MAP or hotwire settup. Also i would leave the air box w/ a k&n filter unless you put the intake somewhere outside the engine bay= dont go low though or water will kill your motor.

Welcome to Rennlist!.. Plug in your location, there is probably a Rennlister near you!
The wastegate did just "Bolt on".. removal was a little more labor intensive I learned that last weekend. It made me glad to be Normally Aspirated..
Replace your Belts. you'll hear it a lot and it can't be stressed enough.
Unless you have a receipt from installation and retensioning of balance shaft and timing belts from a PO, it's a big gamble.
