Searched the archives but failed to find answers to my questions. Anyone... please help:
I have an 86 Turbo now installed with 89TurboS struts (M030) dual adjustables, bought them used 2 years ago. I cannot recall if the strut mounts were replaced in order to accomodate the M030s. QUESTION: Could the M030 struts have fitted the 86 Turbo strut mounts?
Recently, I purchased a pair of new Koni inserts (adjustables), can these be used on the M030? Is the installation similar to paragon's tech-session "Koni Strut Conversion - 8641-1414S for late 944, 968" (http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index...x_v2&id=69&c=4)?
Are these inserts correctly valved for the M030 using M030 springs? Are bump rubbers neccessary for my case?
TIA.

The koni insert is for the old sachs casing. They will not work in the M030 casing.
If you have M030 struts off of an 89 they are different. Also if they are double adjustable then they have been converted by Koni to be double adjustable. they are worth a pretty penny as well. Just out of curiosity are the strut you have bad? If they are send them to paragon and get them rebuilt.

IPSC, Tks! yes my struts are bad. But are you sure the inserts wouldn't fit? Sorry, I just need confirmation. Anyone?

Bump?
From: http://www.davidsims.ukgateway.net/944t/koni.htm ..... it says: "Koni 1007S strut complete (M030 type) ...... must use shims and slightly modify the 86 steering knuckle to use these."
I don't remember doing anything to my spindles/steering knuckle when installing them on my 86! Did I miss anything?
Help!

If you have a set of OE 951S struts that are redone as double-adjust you are encouraged to either have them rebuilt by Koni or take a different set of normal Sachs or Koni cores to convert (will have to add an adjustable ride height kit to gain that aspect back.) The 951S struts are hard to find, especially those that have been already converted to 8741-1007S (as yours have.) I have the proper OE strut cores in stock if you'd like to work a trade.

Inserts are ~48mm in diameter (8641-1414S). The outer casing of M030 is ~54mm. Looks like it's going to be too tight for the inserts to go in. Furthermore, there is the "metal-catch" on the inserts to account for.
So, should I go ahead and install the inserts? Do I have to force it in to fit? Anyone?

You're good - 48 and 54 are the magic numbers. Yes, you do have to force it in to fit. The tabs are for binding the insert into the core so that it is not only centered but also in there tight. You can "slam" the insert in, but I prefer to "draw" it in by using the bolt to pull it down (just in case the hole is slightly off-center)
