molded in custom brake ducts- first try
so i had some time on my hands finally this week to work on my car alittle. I figured i would finally fit my brake ducts that i made out of fiberglass mat and resin into my euro bumper and mold it in. Here is the result- you likes?
and maybe no one will ask anymore "whats supposed to be in those holes?"

Have you figured you routine of the ducts to the brakes?
I put 3" ducts on my race car at the fog light locations. Never figured there was enough room to run ducts from the bumper.
Personally i'd put the ducts in fog light holes and move the fog lights.

i did consider leaving the factory euro driving lights and getting rid of the fogs, but i just like the way it looks as is.... the duct size in these are only 2", but there is just enough room to run a flexible hose from the back of them to the brakes themselves. I havent bought any hose or run anything as of yet, but the hard part is done. Three inch prob would have been better but alittle air is better than none.

... My system works and is cheap. I just went to home depot and got a few hose clamps some aluminum heater ducting and a couple adapters.
You can also cut out a hole where the fog lights are then probably attach a turning duct to strut. I may need to do this as I will probably try to mount a turbo oil cooler on the pass side and that will need to be mounted the fog light hole.

I like. I was considering something like that for my Euro bumper when I finally get around to installing it. Yours looks good like that. I actually have the lights but I kind of don't feel like hooking them up.
Where did you get the ducts?

ancient chinese recipe. I actually made them from scratch. I took a box, the size if the hole, cut a hole in it offset and put a pipe in it, sticking out about three inches. Then i put a t-shirt scrap over it tightly and taped it on the bottom to hold it. Then i put a wire around the pipe a half inch from the top to make the "lip'" for the hose to attach to in the inside of the bumper
Apply resin and let dry, cut out and then i applied a few more coats of resin w/ some fibercloth to strengthen it all. I had to cut them down to fit directly into the bumper, then i grinded the bumper down to give the resin somthing to stick to, and again- fiber mat and resin to mold it into the bumper. I put one coat of fiberfill Filler over the finish side just to smooth it out, and rather than make perfect, i sprayed it w/ some rock guard and a coat of trim coat. Simple, well, kinda.
