I had to laugh. It was in my garage. I just moved in the week before.
The poor guy felt so bad. All he could say was "Don't tell Sid Viscous!"
The latex gloves...if Chris would've said "Turn your head and cough" I'd have been outta there!

OK, so I'm a little late to this post, but here is/are my .02.
Rock is obviously, painfully young. That is not a reason for any any of us to slam him. We were all young once, and have made many, many dumb*ss moves.
To all, watch the language. Insert @@##!* in places, trust me we'll all know the word you are trying to use.

A buddy once told me of an incident with his International Scout. Steering linkage broke, swung around and cut a line from his brake master cylinder. No steering, no brakes, no seatbelt. It could always be slightly worse.

A while back (way past the statute of limitations) I was detailing a customers car and decided to fill the tank up before returning it.. I pumped that Chrysler Lebaron full of 12 gallons of Premium.. DIESEL!! DOH!! The car had to be back in :30 min or else my *** was grass. I realized the mistake as I put the pump handle back. After 5 min of pondering, I went inside the quickie mart, bought a 1.99 pair of pliers.. I had a plan. I pushed the old boat around the back of the station, over a storm drain, and pulled the fuel line off the tank and drained it dry. (Exxon Valdeeze style) I pushed it back, spent another $8.00 to fill it up (AGAIN, this time the good stuff) and delivered that Chrysler on schedule. Sorry to mother nature and her sewer dwelling creatures..
I've also had a hood schwack a winshield at 70-(Audi Fox with a sticky latch). I'd say it ranks right up there in the top 10 things likely to make you shat your Fruit of the Looms.

Actually, you did exactly what I thought. Amazingly stupid...even for a 16 year old. Your attitude towards the situation fits the low level of thought that went into making this mistake in the first place. I'm 100% with Predator here (even if he is a Chevy 350 SOB) . A little less than 5 years ago I was 16 years old...and I would never have attempted anything so careless. Natural selection is a wonderful thing...just keep it safe for the other drivers on the road.
Listen, ****head. I wanted that ****in hood latch off. After ****ing with that cable for endless months and the spikey *** metal getting stuck in my fingers time after time, it was a good feeling to get it off. Now if youre ***** *** wants to hide behind that monitor and call me stupid go ahead.
And yes. Natural selection is a good thing. Thats why they made your fat ugly *** a piece of crap so nobody goes near you. Because damn, we dont need you to reproduce. Go to the Pelican Parts forum. Theres all kinds of ******** there like you! Youll fit right in!

Gloves are a must for those of us who can get into trouble with management about the grease under the fingernails. Either way, many professional wrenches wear them now.
Rock-
When you do get another hood, consider going with hood pins or dzus fasteners to keep it down. They're lighter than stock and if they'll hold race car hoods on, I don't think you'll have any problems with them. Next time remember to make sure the hood is secured though.

oh and just to add to make rock feel better (i never met you, but i think you backed my car up when i first arrived at 944fest) the first time i rebuilt a 5.0 for my mustang.......i didnt know which way i pulled the oil pump driveshaft out. the thing has a spring steel flat piece that prevents it from lifting out of the oil pump and out with the distributor. well since mine kept popping out when i was trying to set the time, and kept moving around since it was upside down and the distributor wouldnt set down on it.......5 days of messing. i took my cap and rotor off, took a hammer and lightly tapped the distributor down to seat. a month later i was taking my engine back apart to change my crank, dstributor gear, lifters, clean alll the shavings out and put all new bearings in. i ruined my new cam too. the driveshaft was bent sideways and nocked the distributor around and wore out the gear......and broke the oil pump and you know the rest after the oil pump breaks.
