Default New Tranny= Sloppy linkage?`

Hey guys. Everybody put in a tranny for me at 944fest yesterday. It was awesome and the car was running great until now. Now it feels like the linkage is sloppy or something. I can put it into a few gears maybe but when i put it in there, i can move the **** all around and stuff. Also, when i go back to try and put it in reverse, the it will move forward? Has anyone ever expierenced this?

Thanks! See you guys when you get back from the fest!

sounds like the linkage needs adjusting. or perhaps shift bushings. i dont know if the 944 has bushings or not though.. (i know the 912 does, and this is a symptom of bad bushings for our cars..)

Check the bolts where the linkage connects to the trans. It sounds like you may have a loose or missing bolt. If they were installed without locktite, the bolts tend to vibrate themselves loose.

Woo. That bolt with the wire backed out. I lost the wire and loctited that bolt. Then i tightned it as hard as i could. Is that wire nessescary? Other than that it is fixed.

The wire is to ensure that you don't loose the bolt if it backs itself out. It's a judgement call if you already used locktite. If it were me and I had your luck, I'd get a wire in there.

Yes folks, Rock got his trans installed by none other than our fearless leader, John D.
Where were you today rock? I think you left your nose panel and your old trans.
Here's John and Andy under the car:

Use Locktite, lock-washer and safety wire on that bolt...
