Question A/C question

My A/C fan works intermittently. I changed the switch on the dash and it still works sometimes and not others. Sometimes it will be on and just go off and other times it won't turn on. Any ideas what is could be?

Thanks in advance.

The blower fan that forces the air into the car. When it doesn't work it doesn't on any of the speeds.

that is true. Works on all speeds or doesn't work on any speed.
Heater blower is separate and works fine.

How bout this...when you say it does not work at all, or when it goes out , try the highest setting. I had my fan speed resistor go out a few years back. Fan works on high only and all other speeds are dead. You may have a resistor that is cutting in and out, but if the resistor is faulty, you high speed will always work. If this test fails, perhaps a short then??????
Good luck.

Doesn't matter what speed it is on. When it doesn't work it doesn't work. I also changed the switch on the dash and same thing happens. Could it be a relay (if there is one)? And if maybe yes where is it?

try http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/1...fusepanel.html

this has pictures and listings of all the fuses and relays. To me it sounds like a faulty relay, if the fuse is in the slot securely then that's what I'd reccomend looking at

10 Slots from the left is the 16 amp fuse for your fan (as shown in those pics) and the relay on the top left would be the bugger you're after. I hope this helps

you should, considering you're in new york and not this barren wasteland up north, grab the # off of it.. or hell, grab the entire relay and walk down to your local OEM parts replacement centre and they would most likely have it.. we have a "canadian tire/partsource" up here and they can get most anything for 944's

the thing is, a relay is quite simple.. it works or it doesn't and they would RARELY go, check the wiring to the fusebox and the ground, it does sound like a grounding problem to me if all the wiring checks out, if the relay is cheap enough.. just replace it

cheers
