Well I fianlly got my 944auto V8 insured for the princely sum of.......$206 CAD, the valuation was pretty painless and they agreed a value of $1000 more than I wanted so it's good all round, of course it's a specialist policy but it's not as if I don't have another to drive on different days. Just need a safty and the streets of Toronto will light up with a v8 sound that doesn't come from a Chevy.

yup, but you do need another car at your disposal, mines the standard 944 and thats even less to insure, I'm sure they are taking a huge risk, but then it's not like I went for a civic or anything with GT on the badge. They are all low value cars that are getting on a bit and while they are a nice all round package, there hardly startling in performance when you look at power/weight and the handling is only as good as the driver, all in all they should be cheap to insure at my end of the market, if it were a last generation turbo/cab then maybe, but a 1983 944 with a V8 under the bonnet that cost less than most spend on a set of rims
no outward body mods, no turbo upgrade, chip kit, MAF mod, no airfilter, so suspension upgrades, the only chassis mod is a remote servo and larger m/cylinder and a tow bar. And I think I get extra discount as there is no timing belt to grenade the engine
