Tranny reseal — triangle plate on right side
Is replacing the seal on this triangle shaped cover as simple as just removing these three bolts and installing a new gasket? I just want to make sure there isn’t a spring or a ball bearing or something behind there that’s going to shoot out when I remove the plate and ruin my day. Thanks!

If you are doing a full tranny reseal then you can remove the gear selector mechanism.
Remove the reverse lockout by undoing the bolt above the red circle in your picture (be careful there is a spring and pin under the bolt.
Remove the reverse lockout bolt, spring, and pin.
Remove the three bolts holding the selector mechanism cover (there is a large spring pressing up against the cover).
Slide out the gear selector bar.
Remove and replace the small seal on the opposite side.
Reinstall the selector bar.
Fit a new gasket to the selector mechanism (I also use some gasket maker sealant on mine).
Reinstall cover.
Reinstall reverse lockout pin, spring, and bolt.
Torque for the cover bolts it pretty low so don't overtighten.

PET sure makes it look like there's a spring behind there, as reference above. The spring itself is not called out in PET, but it must be part of the selector mechanism.

Yes, you can remove the three M6 bolts and pop a new paper gasket on. The cross shaft behind the plate puts a little spring pressure on the plate, but not a lot. Clean up both the plate backside and the case with a razor blade to rid them of gunk.
