Default A/C wiring

While looking at the WSM wiring diagram for my’83 944, labeled Air Conditioner, I noticed a block labeled “amplifier “ which has connections to 6 wires. What is this device and where is it located on the car? It appears to have a diode? Symbol on it. TIA😀

The amplifier is a solid state relay for activating the compressor clutch, and circuitry that compares the internal temperature (the temperature sensor) to what you have set on the round control (the potentiometer.) When the cabin temperature is higher than what is set, the big transistor in the box turns the compressor on.

Default A/C wiring

Thanks for the info..I have the 6 wires matched with each other coming out of the 6 way connector. I also have the black and white wire coming from the low pressure switch to the 6 way. But the solid black wire coming from the low pressure switch has me stumped. It apparently goes to T1 connector, (which is where on the car?) There must be another connector that goes to the supp. Air valve in Red and green, as well as another black and white wire going to the A/C clutch? I need some confirmation on my reading of the schematic…where is the T1 connector? Down by the compressor? TIA😀

It's somewhere in the engine compartment. I'd look between the low pressure valve and the compressor. Follow the wire from the compressor and it will lead you to it.

Default A/c wiring

Thanks, I’ll check it out. The new wiring harness that I bought is a ROW harness, with only 1 fan(my car has two) and no AC…which mine has also. So I’m having to recreate the circuitry, with older junk wiring harnesses(2) plus the burned one which was removed from my car. Thanks for all the help as I’m trying to splice it all together and make everything work as it was before the fire.😀

Default 1083 944 wiring

Thanks all for the prior thread on early car A/C wiring. Still looking for that solid state switch..might it be over by the passenger door? Dash is totally out. Now I am trying to trace down wiring that comes out of a T6 flat connector. There are two connectors like this. The wiring comes through the firewall and into this connector. I cannot find a 6 plug connector with the following wires on the schematics. The colors are:1. Blue with a white tracer.2.re w a green tracer.3.solid green wire4.red with a blue tracer5. Black with a yellow tracer 6 two wires come from this location: 1 is a grey wire with a yellow tracer( could be reversed colors) and a blue wire with a yellow tracer. Since I can’t find this connector on my schematics, I can’t tell where these wire go. They were burned in the fire and cut. Can anyone please help me with this? I suspect the blue and white wire might be for instrument lighting, but the rest are a crap shoot. TIA😀
