Default My early 944 issues

So had my 84 944 for about a year now. Same issue is happening just at different rpm’s.
Replaced plugs and wires, and coil.
New fuel pump, filter, and strainer.
new dme, and afm from 87 ( since changing it the shifts are way smoother but now the break up happens a bit earlier in the rpm range and feels like it lost power

is there any chance this could be some issue with timing my idle is super low and almost feels
like stalling

AFM and DME must be matched, early and early or late and late.

What do the plugs look like? Low idle can be over-fueling, commonly caused by leaking FPR, Damper or injectors. Those issues are getting more common due to age and fuel additives.

I’m going to pull plugs today and check them out. I’ll send some photos. The next part I was gonna change was going to be the fuel pressure regulator. Do you know if early and late FPR are the same? As long as for 2.5l? Or are they different?

If you are going to change the FPR without knowing it's bad, might as well change the damper and clean the injectors, reseal, etc.

A simple fuel pressure test will tell you whether the FPR/damper is bad. Maybe try that first.

Default Early issues

Try pulling the vacuum line that goes to the FPR. If it’s bad, there’s a good chance that fuel will come from the vacuum line, indicating a hole in the vacuum chamber diaphragm. This can be done on both the FPR and the damper. No fuel= good. HTH some😀

yes so I did do this test a few weeks ago before changing the afm & dme to late model units. When doing the test there was a slight change in idle but no fuel in line.
