Iceshark,
Thanks for the explanation. Guess I would have to see the bulb options on someone's car...I can't really afford to experiment at this time with a clutch job around the corner. I do love the clears on a black 951 though.

Ok, here are some pictures of the marker lights that Kevin K. took of my 951S. He fixes airplanes for a living, not doing photographs, so the side marker lenses look a bit silver the way the Sun is hitting on them and shining off the chrome paint I applied to the inner reflector which in stock form is white. I wanted those puppies to shine a bit more. But the lens is the clear the Swedes sell. The front marker/blinkers have the Sylvania SilverStars that Sylvania gave me to test out. The front side marker has an amber #1155 bulb in it.

I thought you were against all red tail lights........(?)

( maybe I was just confused by thinking that. I get confused easily...)

tifosiman, not really on the all red for reverse. There are two issues. First is seeing what you are backing up into. That I solved with the 35 watt #1156 halogens that led to the big sales of those bulbs to Rennlisters and others. I sold almost 300 of those bulbs and some went as far away as Australia.

Second, is they are not legal as they don't warn people with a white light that you are in reverse. I was going to experiment with various designs like thin chevrons or diagonal slits that would let some white light through but I have never gotten around to it. I can strip the red off easy enough with acetone so that is a future project.

You know, I just thought of another design idea. Make a mask of the Porsche crest to paint over with red and leave some white in the appropriate spots. Anyone good with design to dummy up a drawing that could be transfered onto a sticky label/plastic sheet and cut out with an exacto knife? That might be sort of kewl and solve the white warning light issue.

You guys know that the side marker lenses have to be glued into the stock housings after you remove the old lense.....FYI.......This is not a simple get them in the mail and go put them on in 5 minutes type deal....! Its funny though cause for the price I paid for those lenses...NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT IT......its hard to believe that a guy that owns a honda or any other type of rice, even a freakin GTP can go buy the entire housing with the new clear lense all ready to be mounted for almost half the price.....What gives......Is it cause of the rarity of them for the 944..? But either way it made a great difference on my car.....

Oh also the smaller bulbs that are used for the side markers are very very hard to find in Amber......I looked everywhere in town and nobody had them..but IceShark did.........or does.....So just be sure to order the smaller amber bulbs also right away to save you guys a headache.......As the clear lenses illuminate like crap with stock white bulbs......

Iceshark, I have at least one spare taillight lense, possibly two or three that I can send you if you want one to experiment with. You probably have some, but in case you dont, this way you can experiment with slits or crests and not ruin your good set. Just let me know,

Maciek, That might be a good idea. First let me post a new topic tomorrow or Sunday to get some guys to come up with a drawing of the Porsche Crest, as that really is tickeling my fancy now that I thought about it over a couple beers.

Once we have the drawing and transfer down and tried out on scrap plastic then it is off to an actual lens. Also, I need to get in touch with current technology on making masks. Outside of the old exacto knives there is laser cutting and photo masking. Maybe we can come up with a kit to just send everyone the masks, instructions and can of spray paint.

Reverse light with Porsche Crest in clear/white ..... mmmmmmmm. That would sure catch people's attention.
