Why didn't you report it stolen to the police? Won't police in the U.S. try to help you find a stolen car?

How did the thieves hot wire it, is there evidence of that?

There are wires pulled from under the dash. I actually have no idea how they did it, but those wires never hung down before. I just got home yesterday, so I checked the local towing yards first. Today, I called them too late and they told me to call back tommorow.

I found the car, but it looks like they hit a tree, or a pole or something.

I agree, that is a good way too. The 2nd reason why I pull the ground is because my damn clock and stereo face put enough drain on the battery to affect it. If the car is parked 7-10 days (which happens a lot in my garage since it only gets 3000 miles pers year on it), it's enough to drain it.

When I have dealt with my insurance company for a loss, very few times fortunately, they have wanted to see a copy of the police report as well. I'd also suggest not mentioning the part about leaving your car unlocked. Good luck.

clock and radio are on the same fuse, no? Just a suggestion. Maybe it's easier to pull the ground, rather then taking out fuse and relay, but to each his own.

Bhj0887, sorry to hear about that jackass messing up your ride.

I have a good solution for disabling the battery. I have a battery cut-off switch installed on the negative terminal of my battery. Just a little *** to unscrew and it doesn't reset you clock and radio because of a bypass fuse. You can buy it from Pelican for only $14.50, cheap!!!

Here's the link: Battery Cut-Off Switch

First of all, I'm really sorry to hear about your terrible news. I hope that, in the end, you are in the 951.

Yes, last year, I learned a hard lesson, too. Even though I live in a quiet neighborhood with 3-4 acre lots, and, in fact, several neighbors down the street breed Arabian horses. Anyway, one night last year, I forgot to lock the doors on my S2, and the next morning, I was devastated to see that my radio had been stolen, leaving behind a mess of frayed wires. It totally opened my eyes to the fact that, no, I don't live in Mayberry.

Again, sorry about your bad luck.

Yea, my house is on 6 1/3 acres, the neigbors houses are at least 2 acres away, even the ones accross the road. All of them have at least 4 acres and the houses are planted in the middle, so someone had to know about the car or be looking for something to take.
