Most 996/986 drives don't even wave to other 911's!
True story, I parked in front of a brand new Boxster S one day in my 911 and the owner looked at my car and said 'Whats is this thing?"

Nice eh?

Lets not even get started on the soccer moms in Cayennes around here!

Disclaimer: Yes, I know there are plenty of enthusiasts in Boxsters and 996's as well, don't flame me

Any Boxster S owner who doesn't recognize a CLASSIC 911 should have his car taken away! He was probably jealous!

We are sad. If I drove a boxster/911 and came over to this board and saw the 36 various threads in the last 2 years going on about people waving/not waving, I would get a big laugh.

Yes, wave to all!
Maybe i'm just sick, but even paying attention to the road (and i really do), i'll notice without looking a porsche driving the other way when both directions of the highway are 4 lanes. I'm sure i miss some, but it always suprises me that i see them without conciously looking in the same direction.

I'm not talking about waving while exiting the highway in the rain. A simple wave while passing on a slow moving local street is all I ask.

Sad, but true!

I have to restrain myself from waving at the other Porsches...they would be terribly confused having it come from a bright fricking yellow Subie Baja!

LOL,
Melissa

Call me a cheese doodle, but I refuse to wave at other people in Porsches. I see someone in a Porsche, he sees me. Its obvious we're both driving Porsches. What else needs to be said. I dont want to be a part of any secret code thats expected of me. Anybody who waves at me gets a middle finger. I dont care to affirm your presence. I dont care to know you. I dont even want to know you. I dont want you to be as if you are my long lost pal and we're crossing paths on the journey of life and will one day meet again in the Kingdom. I get in my Porsche as it is to reconcile some small amount of peace and quiet left on this earth that I can share with only myself and I dont need you giving me the Miss America wave while expecting me to acknowledge your presence in my sphere of influence. I get the same stuff from WRX people. I give them the middle finger too. You have gestures, I have gestures. And theyre both universal. I dont want you to pull up alongside me and start screaming **** through the pasenger window either. Every time I see the passenger window roll down, I know whats coming and I speed the hell away. Some folks want to carry on an entire conversation as you barrel through stoplights. Jam it. If Im in my car Im busy and off limits. Im probably going somewhere too, and theres a good chance Im hoping you arent going to the same place and "park next to me so theres two Porsches next to each other." Thats just a little too gooey for me. You just keep your distance chief.

So dont wave at me. If I know you, you are already on my A list. And if I dont, theres probably a good reason.

I just get the feeling whenever I see a guy wave at me, he wants to strap me over a wicker chair and make melon love to parts of me that I try to keep sacred. You dont blindly throw greetings and salutations at people you dont know with the full understanding that you will never see them in your life again. Do you walk up to a stranger at the train station and say , "Hey Man! How are ya. I dont know if youve noticed or not, but you are wearing your wifes thongs on your head and so am I. I guess we're buddies now." Of course you dont. Shoot. Maybe you do. Maybe thats where Im missing this.

What can I say. If you like the wave, knock yourself out. Just keep in mind not everyone is real keen on it.

Hey UD!!!

j/k, but seriously. You should write books or articles if you already don't.

Its good to hear that 944 guys wave somewhere. Around here I vary rarely get waved to from a 944. Ive stopped trying with Boxsters, but I did get a wave from a 996 the other day, which gave me hope. Wave on!

I had a Boxster owner high beam me from the opposite side of the Hutch parkway(north bound). To warn of a state trooper up ahead. I consider that better than a wave. So there is hope.
UD: If you were stuck on the side of the road with 2 flats and one spare. And I drove by waving would you wave back, give me the finger or call AAA?

Id give you the finger for mocking me, then call AAA. If you were someone I knew, I'd give you the finger, throw my lugwrench at you, then call AAA.

Hahaha, feel the love in here!

UD, tell you what - if I ever see you (not likely) I will beat you to it and give YOU the finger first!

In all honesty, you own the most beautiful 930 I believe I have ever seen!
