Default 1988 944S rear damage

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea how much this would take to fix?

Thanks,
Matt

My previous '88 NA had the same damage repaired by the previous owner! His receipt showed $400 or something like that. But that was 10 years back.

Sorry I can't be of more help. But when I saw your pic, I had to respond!

Even with bondo and paint (maybe even welding in the new part of a fender off a parts car) I'd put that at under/around $1000 with painting and all.

That doesn't need bondo. I had the fender on the other side like that but in much worse shape. Take it to a shop who can do actual metal work. What they will do is cut a window/opening from in the wheel well, then use their rods to get at both sides of the metal and form it back into place. Then its the old grinder and welder to fill in if there's any holes from creases (mine had a hole like on a twisted soda can). That being said, it cost ~800 for the repair (I had it done by a Porsche restoration shop). It looks much worse than it is. Insurance will tell you the fender needs replacing and there is no way to make that fender whole again if they cut the quarter panel off. It underlaps with too many other fenders, so you end up losing some of the strength of the car. Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies.

Serge944 - Cool, are you going to have a look at it? Maybe I'll want more than one after I've got my first one too...

Cheers,
Matt

I fixed much worse damage on my passenger side for about $120 in tools (well, I had the power drill) and materials. Most of that was paint: 1 pint mixed to specification and loaded into 4 charged aerosol cans was $65. The result is decent for having had exactly zero body repair experience!

Took me about a week start to finish, but the cheapest estimate I got was $1600.
