OT:Any Pocket Bike Owners Out There?
I was looking into getting a pocket bike to take to the track with me. I can pick one up for about $230 shipped so It is not a huge investment. Has anyone had or currently owns a Pocket Bike? How do you like them? Any problems/tips. Thanks for the help.

I was actually trying to find one for my little brother to practice on. It would be a great way for him to pick up the skills so he can drive one alot easier in the future. But the only problem is finding one under $400!

Ryan,
Find me a "real bike" for under $300 and Ill buy it. It would also be pretty hard to fit a "real bike" in the back of my 944 to take to the track. I don't really trust myself on a bike either.

I ended up getting one off ebay for $230 shipped. I will let you guys know how it turns out. It is a 49cc and supposedly can go 45(under perfect circumstances). If anyone else is interested the same seller still has like 12 bikes for sale.

I just bought a Pagsta Choppa...Not a pocket bike, but basically a 2/3 scale H-D soft tail with a 97cc motor...It's a lot of fun! Check out

Check out some of the online forums for more info, but here's how it goes. The cheap bikes...under $500 are commonly referred to as "china bikes" or "skags". They have 3-5HP and are pretty cheaply made. My buddy bought one and the build quality was horrid. Broke a foot peg off in an hour and the carburetor unbolted itself.
There are also REAL pocket bikes. I can't remember any of the manufacturers, but the big one is italian made. They run about (you should be sitting down for this).....2k - 3.5k. They also produce up to 12HP. That's good for speeds near 60mph if you have the gearing for it. Remember they are all single speed bikes and do not have suspension, so the ride is not all that great. Personally, the true pocketbikes excite me....but I already own a motorcycle that has 135HP to the rear wheel. Total cost to build was around 4k. Those pocket bikes are too spendy.
Oh...most racing organizations are now starting to have classes for the cheaper pocketbikes. Stockton is where they race em in cali.
