omg how do u get the filter off? i tried with a wrench and everything.. the wrench jus keeps slipping.. and the other one i have is too small wont even fit...

I swear that is one of the reasons that I buy the K&N oil filter. It has a one inch nut welded to the top of it. I have heard of guys saying that they bought a filter wrench that's a bit smaller than the filter and hammered it on. I practically cut an old filter in half trying to turn it with a screwdriver.

Have you tried turning on your headlights? This creates extra space. It allows you to slip both hands into the engine bay to get a good grip with both hands on the oil filter.

I had the same problem, I didn't want to cut the filter or punch holes so I went out got a size that was closest to the ****ty napa filter that was on there, put some paper towels and stuff to make it fit better and tapped it on, on an angle. Then used a 1 foot extension and it came off without too much trouble.

There's a rather helpful tool for removing the filter, this is what I use:
The piece on the left is designed for this job. Can't remember the brand right now but it's the same one they use at the dealer...

I think if someone came up with one of those cap wrenches with a taper to it, and some rough insides, it would be great as a universal fit on all filters.
BTW, don't buy FRAM filters: Oil Filter Study and German Oil Filter Study.

Danno, thanks for the link to the filter studies -truly very interesting. Looks like the Mahle many of us are using is a solid choice. But the Fram I've been using on my '02 Dodge Ram 4x4 is sadly...crap. I've been using Frams since I was a kid...basically since they WERE a quality product. Too bad they've become junk. Oh well. Not sure which brand I will switch to for the truck. Running synthetic in it but dino oil in the Porsche.
